Downtown Bloomington has survived three major fires, in 1855, 1901 and 1986. After the 1901 fire, the nearly rebuilt McLean County Courthouse was destroyed to it's foundation by a "cyclone".

The 1857 Rounds Building is one of Bloomington's original treasures. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as the oldest, purpose-built, commercial structure in Illinois.
Currently occupied by Mug Shots, this building has housed a tavern continuously since 1857.
It has six great apartments in a bona fide, historic location, and is just one block off the Old Courthouse square.
